She was predeceased by: her parents, William Bowman and Nellie McCarty Bowman; her former husband Gilbert O. Young, Jr.; her husband Charles D. Chopp; and her siblings, J. C. Bowman, Thomas Bowman, Charlene Simpson and Joyce Fisher.
She is survived by: her children, Gilbert O. Young III and Melissa A. Young Pendleton (Michael); her grandchildren, Justin Allen, Matthew Austin, William Gilbert, Christopher Alexander, Nicholas James, Destiny Renee and Laci Nicole; her great grandchild Amelia Mae; her siblings, Ronald "Ronnie" Bowman, Patrick Bowman, Michael Bowman and Bonnie Terry; and her cousin Amanda Stewart.
Visitation was held on Sunday, September 28th 2025 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Monday, September 29th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:30 PM at the Legacy Funeral Center - Nunnelley Chapel (4327 Taylor Blvd, Louisville, KY 40215). A funeral service was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at 12:30 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Monday, September 29th 2025 at the Calvary Cemetery (1600 Newburg Rd, Louisville, KY 40205).
