The memory of Elijah Buell Jr. (Cumberland, Kentucky), who passed away on June 19, 2025 at the age of 69, will forever remain in the hearts of those touched by this precious presence in their lives. As we bid Elijah farewell, let us not mourn the absence of his physical form, but rather celebrate the essence of his spirit that lingers in the spaces between moments. For Elijah is not truly gone, but merely transformed, his energy intertwined with the fabric of the universe itself, forever dancing among the stars.
He was predeceased by: his father Elijah "Lige" Buell, Sr.; and his siblings, Elizabeth Ann "Libby" Buell Cornett and Michael Anthony Buell. He is survived by: his mother Joyce Osborne Buell; his partner Dana Henry Best; his nephews, Keston Kyle Sturgill (Christy) and Aaron Ross Buell; and his brothers, Bill Watts and John Standridge.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the Southeast Kentucky Community and Technical College (700 College Rd, Cumberland, KY 40823).
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to the Elijah "Lige" Buell Memorial Scholarship, benefiting students from Harlan County pursuing higher education.
