He was predeceased by : his parents, Claude Fortner and Mary Harrellson Fortner; and his sister Juanita Disher. He is survived by : his wife Shelby Peters Fortner; his daughter Faith Hacker (Doug) of Lexington; his grandchildren, Audrey Grace and William Stewart Hacker; and his sisters, Jean Wilson (Jimmy) of Winston Salem, NC and Patty Parrish (Ken) of Johnson City, TN. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Memorial donations are suggested to Grace Baptist Church.
