He was predeceased by: his parents, Joseph Reister and Alice Dougherty Reister; his former wife Agnes Hatfield Reister; and his brother Daniel Reister. He is survived by: his wife Paula Reister; his children, Robert Floyd Reister (Melinda), Michael Joseph Reister (Rebecca), Paul Gerard Reister (Marta), David Alan, Mary Alice McClain (Doug) and Angela Daryl Reister; his stepchildren, Megan Fish (Matthew) and Matthew Fitzwater (Rhonda); and his siblings, Richard Reister (Chris), Leo Reister (Lana), Joe Reister (Marsha) and Nora Prescott (Bill). He is also survived by twenty-two grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren.

Memorial donations are suggested to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or Saints Peter & Paul Catholic Church.
