He was predeceased by: his parents, William Carrol and Glenna Galloway Atherton; and his wife Linda Sherry Atherton. He is survived by: his close friend Brenda Duncan of Henderson, KY; his children, Jackie Wilhelm (Joe Kerr) of Henderson, KY, Kelly Sutton (Carl Roger) of Morganfield, KY and Clint Atherton (Tonya) of Dixon, KY; his sisters, Faye Hoover of Hartford, KY and Barbara Hester of Utica, KY; and his grandchildren, Chris Wilhelm, Jessie Wilhelm, Josh Atherton and Cody Sutton'. He is also survived by 4 great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held on Monday, September 14th 2026 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Townsend Funeral Home (140 US-41 ALT, Dixon, KY 42409). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, September 15th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
