He was predeceased by: his parents, Oscar Thornton and Annabelle Johnson Thornton; his granddaughter Oliviah Jade Thornton; and his siblings, Clarence "Bub", Jack, Crawford, Evelina and Betty.
He is survived by: his wife Pamela J McClanahan Thornton; his children, Angela McFarland of Brown Co and John Michael Thornton (Hevan) of Dover, KY; his grandchildren, Cheyenne (Brian), Taylor (Caleb), Tapanga (Chaise) and Tinley; his great grandchildren, Ryder, Scarlett, LuLu and Rayna; and his siblings, Calvin, Ozzie, Ethel, Marcella and Lisa. He is also survived by several nephews, nieces and cousins.
