He was predeceased by: his parents, John B. Ellis and Anna Bell Ellis (Lindell); his former wife Arlis Ronnig; his daughter Rose Benedict-Humble; his sister Helen McClain; and his half-brother Billy Truman.
He is survived by: his wife Judy McClain; his son John J. Ellis (Beverly) of Bedford; his grandchildren, Amanda Eldridge of Lagrange, Benita Netherton (Scott) of Lagrange, John M. Ellis (Jennifer Graczuk) of Lincoln and Thomas Ellis (Amanda) of Overton, Nebraska; and his half-brothers, Floyd McClain (Burna) of Eminence, James McClain (Elaine) of Smithfield and Michael McClain (Dorothy) of Crestwood, Kentucky. He is also survived by great grandchildren, other family and friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 20th 2025 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Ransdell Funeral Home (7101 Campbellsburg Rd, Campbellsburg, KY 40011). A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, October 21st 2025 at 11:00 AM at the same location.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the Smithfield Cemetery.
