He was predeceased by : his father Edward Shields; his brother John "Buzz" Shields; and his brother-in-law Daniel Gastenveld. He is survived by : his mother Evelyn Carpinello Shields; his wife Stacie Clark Shields; his siblings, Jan Mullikin (Bob), Nancy Gastenveld, Edward "Duke" Shields, Jr. (Clotella), Robert Shields (Judy), Daniel "Red" Shields (Pam) and Joseph Shields (Jill); and his sister-in-law Mary Shields.
