He was predeceased by: his son Sam A. Barker; his parents, Anthony Barker and Margaret Barker; and his sister Mary Castro. He is survived by: his wife Phyllis Vowels Barker; his daughter Debbie Whelan (Steve); and his grandchildren, Janie (Quinten), Morgan (Wyatt), Johnathan (Samantha), Stephanie (Kyle), Jacob and Jennifer (Truman). He is also survived by twelve great grandchildren; and a host of extended family & friends.
Visitation will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Chism Family Funeral Home (769 Highland Ave, Vine Grove, KY 40175). A rosary will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 11:00 AM at the same location. A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at 12:00 PM at the St. Martin of Tours Catholic Church (440 St. Martin Road, Flaherty, KY 40175). The military honors will be held on Monday, October 26th 2026 at the St. Martin Cemetery.
