He was predeceased by: his parents, Hubert Wayne and Cleo Fortner (Oliver); his wife Marie Elaine Fortner (King); and his son Dennis Duane Fortner. He is survived by: his daughter Tammy McAtee; his grandchildren, Amanda Sipes (Jace), Michael Kerr (Constance), Matthew Kerr and Tabitha Stutzenberger (Shawn); his great grandchildren, Dylan, Colin, Charlie, Madilyn, James, Synciere, Jae, Bentley, Kaylee, Jordan and Michael, Jr.; and his siblings, James Fortner, George Fortner and Barbara Patrick.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 7th 2025 from 2:00 PM to 7:00 PM and on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Hager Funeral Home (633 Bland St, Brandenburg, KY 40108). A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. The military honors will be held on Wednesday, October 8th 2025 at 2:30 PM at the Kentucky Veterans Cemetery (2501 N Dixie Blvd, Radcliff, KY 40160).
