He is survived by: his wife Lydia Lorraine Chafton Payne; his children, Dale Donaldson, Jr. (Manuela) and Dana Thompson (James E.); his brothers, Terry Gray and Jerry Gray (Sarah); his grandchildren, Chelsey Clater, Katelynn Kaelin, Michael McWhirter Jr. and Shelby Iler; his great grandchildren, Avery, Jackson, Lucas, Cole and Peyton; and his pet Charlie Brown.
