She is survived by: her grandsons, Braxton and Preston; her children, John E. McAlpin III (Sabrina) of Elizabethtown Ky and Laura McAlpin of Lexington Ky; and her brother Kenneth W. Whittenburg of Louisville Ky. She is also survived by grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
