He was predeceased by: his parents, William Henry Mason, Sr. and Mamie Mason (Coleman); his wife Laura Mason (Wright); his children, Laura Whitney, Valedia Roberts, Geraldine Carr and Julius Mason, Jr.; his grandson Lee Lamarr Winburn; and his siblings, William, James, Sr., Charles, Ralph Mason and Ann Morehead.
He is survived by: his children, Joyce Winburn of Shelbyville and Leo Mason (Brenda) of Eminence; and his son-in-law Jerry Roberts of Eminence.
