He was predeceased by: his parents, Hobert Maxey and Goldie Maxey (Lambert); his wife JoAnn Maxey (Bennett); his son James Richard "Ricky" Maxey; his sister Wilma Rush; his great grandchild Treyton Jones; and his great great grandchild Ezmerae Burton.
He is survived by: his children, Kevin Maxey (Beverly) of Eubank, KY and Kimberly Watkins of Eubank, KY; his siblings, Dennis Maxey (Jodette) of Coral Springs, FL, Don Maxey (Ruth) of Antehiem, CA and Debbie Patterson (Bill) of Eubank, KY; and his grandchildren, Michelle Burton, Keshia Lawless, Dakota Lawless, Ricky Maxey, Olivia Maxey, Brooke Watkins, Peyton Watkins, Emily Jones, Alyssa Burton and Alexis Pittman. He is also survived by nine great-grandchildren.
