We are sad to announce that, on May 8, 2026, at the age of 82, Marie Coates of Fairdale, Kentucky passed away. Family and friends are welcome to leave their condolences on this memorial page and share them with the family.
She was predeceased by: her parents, James B. Coates and Jennie Durbin Coates; and her siblings, John, Bubby, Paul, David Coates, Rose LaTondress and Shirley Benham.
She is survived by: her husband Don Coates; her children, Jennie Kreutzer (Darryl), Lorie Marvel (Coulter), Mary Wardrip, Jimmy Wardrip (Christy), Curtis and Jeffery Coates; and her grandchildren, Melissa Armendt (Mike), Jessica Sharpe (Justin), Heather Marvel (Kristina), Kellie Wardrip, Nikki Bruce (Bonez), James Michael Wardrip, Tommy Chism, Lee Kruetzer (Danielle) and Jacob Kruetzer. She is also survived by 14 great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Expressions of sympathy may take the form of contributions to the American Cancer Society.
