He was predeceased by : his parents, Steve Thompson and Desdia Thompson (Hair); and his siblings, Bonnie Reed, Letha Lowery, Beulah Casada, Shirley Bray, Violet Haynes, Harmon Thompson, Orville Thompson, Curtis Wayne Thompson and Viola Duff.

He is survived by : his wife June Thompson (Lowery); his children, Carlos Thompson (Connie), Wilma Harrison (Randy) and Linda Land; his sister Jo Ann Thompson; his grandchildren, Candice Gibson (Jason), Corey Turner (Kayla), Matthew Thompson (Katie), Billie Snyder (Garrett Terry) and Madison Land (Chanler Brake); his great grandchildren, Jared Gibson (Zoe), Mariah Turner, Olivia Morrow, Carson Morrow, Jayden Wilson, Brantley Turner, Aleeah Morrow, Blakley Turner, Aubriella Gibson, Draven Gibson, Walker Lee Terry and Haven Wilson; his great great grandchild Willow Kay; and his close friends, Bobby Overbay and Juil Noe.
