He was predeceased by: his parents, Charles Edward and Bessie Louise Taylor Smith; his sons, Michael Smith and Brian Smith; and his siblings, Annie Eades and Hermon Smith.
He is survived by: his son Scott Smith (Cindy) of Shelbyville; his brothers, Harvey Smith (Dot) of Shelbyville and Paul Smith (Jan) of Louisville; his grandchildren, Ashley Coulter (Daniel) of Taylorsville, Amber Smith of Shelbyville, Anndrea Breen (David) of Bagdad, Shelby Sheets (Joseph) of Lawrenceburg and Shayna Smith of Shelbyville; and his great grandchildren, Case Coulter, Tinley McAninch, Rylan Breen and Rhett Breen. He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Kosair Children's Hospital, Post Office Box 950136, Louisville, Kentucky 40295-013 or to plant a tree in his honor and memory through the Arbor Day Foundation.
