He was predeceased by: his wife Gayle Williams Whelan; his parents, Edward Whelan and Hallie Hager Whelan; and his siblings, Bill Whelan, Bob Whelan, Wayne Whelan, Danny Joe Whelan, Ken Whelan, Lee Whelan and Mary Clare Phillips.
He is survived by: his sons, Paul A. Whelan (Michelle), Joe Whelan (Yanaliz), Steve Whelan (Debbie), Father Daniel Whelan and Chris Whelan (Kelly). He is also survived by 18 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family & friends.
