He was predeceased by : his parents, Moss Browning and Edith Blevins Browning; his wife Connie Jenkins Browning; his grandson Clayton James Browning; his siblings, Billy Joe Browning, Moss Browning Jr., Wilbur Allen Browning, Bobby Fred Browning, George Eddly Browning, Alice Browning, Emma Jean Browning, Tressie Mae Browning Thompson, Frances Ann Browning and Mable Browning Hale; and his brother-in-law Gary Jenkins.

He is survived by : his sons, James David Browning of Flatwoods and Dana Dale Browning (Regina) of Shelbyville; his grandchildren, Emma Browning and Wade Browning; and his siblings, John Browning (Lynn) of Ashland, Kentucky and Eloise Rye (George) of Lake Jackson, Florida. He is also survived by nieces and nephews.
