He was predeceased by: his parents, John Cavanaugh Sr. and Carol Pasternak (Largiader); and his siblings, Linda Truesdell and Michael Pasternak. He is survived by: his stepfather Ralph Pasternak; his wife Martha Cavanaugh (Knight); his stepsons, Jason Gallaway of Williamsburg, PA and Josh Gallaway (Jennifer) of Delevan; and his sister Lorraine "Lori" Pasternak (Joe Petrino) of Buffalo. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
