He was predeceased by: his parents, John Boyd Lutz and Edith Margie Harrison Lutz. He is survived by: his wife Gail Blalock Lutz; his brother William Ronald Lutz (Mary Beth) of Eatonton, GA; his sons, James Larry Lutz Jr. (Mary Helen) of Atlanta, GA and Terry Michael Lutz (Courtney) of Peachtree Corners, GA; his grandchildren, Addison Colleen Lutz, Tinsley Elizabeth Lutz and William Conrad Lutz; his niece Caitlin Elizabeth Lutz; his mother-in-law Bonnie Dillard of Flowery Branch, GA; and his brothers-in-law, Reid Blalock of Flowery Branch, GA and Dennis Blalock (Docia) of Winslow, AZ. He is also survived by extended family members and friends.
