He was predeceased by: his father Austin Griffith; his niece Jennifer Carnes Taylor; and his brother-in-law Winston Rogers. He is survived by: his wife Joan Daniels Griffith; his sisters, Anne Griffith Rogers and Libby Griffith Taylor (Tim); his children, Laurie Rose Griffith (Peter Mealy) of Fredericksburg, Robin Gail Griffith Glass of Shelbyville and Graham Andrew Griffith (Brooke Shireman) of Cold Springs; his grandchildren, Andrew Glass (Rachel), Daniel Glass (Baylee), Adrian Griffith-Mealy and Rosalie Griffith-Mealy; his sister-in-law Martha Kay McDaniel (L. I.); his mother-in-law Kathleen Daniels; his nieces and nephews, David Rogers (Elaine), Mark Rogers, Scott Rogers of Todd Rogers, T. J, Glenn Kipp, Matthew Todd McDaniel (Bekah), Justin Blair McDaniel (Joa), Melissa Taylor Doss (Daniel) and Kelly McDaniel Lewis (Rob); his great-nieces, Courtney Kipp, Megan Kipp, Wren Lewis, Iris Lewis and Eleanor McDaniel; and his great-nephew Will McDaniel.
