He was predeceased by : his parents, Charles T. Mattingly and Mary Margaret Hughes Mattingly; and his siblings, James Hughes Mattingly, James Thomas Mattingly, William Robert Mattingly, Joseph Malcom Mattingly, Harold Lewis Mattingly, Marita Englert, Martha Ann Boone and Dorothy Louise Edelen.

He is survived by : his wife Josephine Ann "Jo Ann" Schroff Mattingly; and his sons, Charles Donald Mattingly, Jr. and Frederick James Mattingly.
