He was predeceased by: his parents, Howard Lee Dean, Sr. and Della Faye Adams Dean. He is survived by: his wife Margaret Wilson Dean; his children, Anna Marie Dean (Jacob), Angelina Nicole Dean (Alex), Terri Marie Dean and Howard Lee Dean III (Maddie); his siblings, Belida Wilson (Roger) and Roy Dean; and his grandchildren, Abby and Sue Ann.
