He was predeceased by: his father Luellen Dempsey; his wife Patricia Sue Burke Dempsey; and his great grandchild Cole Lance Frazier. He is survived by: his significant other Betsy Conner; his son Chuck Dempsey (Patricia); his sister Jo Ann Watkins; his grandchildren, Candice Dempsey and Brandon Dempsey; and his great grandchildren, Reese Nicole and Abel Coleman.
