She was predeceased by : her son William Bradley Middleton. She is survived by : her siblings, Mary Jane Willard and William C. Middleton; her nieces and nephews, Rhonda Willard, Janet Cummins, Steve Willard, Randall Willard, Kyle Willard, William "Butch" Middleton and Mark Middleton; and her pets, Blue and Freddie.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are requested to the Franklin County Humane Society.

“I was so sorry to learn of Shirley's passing. Although we didn't see each other very often these past few years, I have great memories of all the dog trips to New York, obedience classes, etc. we did together. She was a great friend. I'm already missing her. Wilma Moore (was Kirk)”
