He was predeceased by: his parents, William Shelby and Lois Catherine Sorrell Yount; his son Christopher Owen Yount; and his sisters, Janelle Northern and Jeannie Yount.

He is survived by: his son Stephen Michael Yount (Tonya) of Watford City; his siblings, Michael Yount (Beverly) of Shelbyville, Roger Reese (Patricia) of Shelbyville and Nancy Harley of Bagdad; his former wife Donna Cook Yount of Frankfort; and his grandchildren, Memphis Yount, Kalee Yount, Keegan Yount, Brittany Yount and Danielle Yount.
