He was predeceased by : his parents, U. C. Phillips and Mellie Moore Phillips; his wife Juanita Phillips; his daughter Alyce Phillips; and his siblings, Gary Phillips, Joan Ellis and Judy Gail Clements.

He is survived by : his sons, Gary Phillips (Leann) of Franklin and Pete Phillips (Mary Beth) of Tupelo; his siblings, Melanie Joyce Alexander of Milton, Georgia and Jimmy Ray Phillips of Columbus, Mississippi; and his grandchildren, Peyton, Nowlin, Cameron Scoggins, John, Dillon and Evan Phillips. He is also survived by 6 great grandchildren.
