She was predeceased by: her parents, Delpha Baskett (Thompson) and Homer Baskett; and her sisters, Jennette Poland and Betty Carter. She is survived by: her children, Nicole Headrick (Wayne) of Gamaliel, KY, Cheryl Gentry (Billy) and Charles Austin, Jr. (Tina); and her grandchildren, Lily Headrick, Amanda Murphy (James), Courtney Helmbrecht (Nick), Caleb Austin (Michelle), Nicholas Austin (Mikaelah), Chessny Gentry, Joey Gentry (Anna), Jermey Gentry (Jessica) and Sean Gentry (Mackenzie). She is also survived by 9 great grandchildren.
Visitation was held on Thursday, September 10th 2026 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Friday, September 11th 2026 from 8:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Yokley-Trible Funeral Home (510 W 4th St, Tompkinsville, KY 42167). A funeral service was held on Friday, September 11th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Gene's memory may be made to the Backpack Program, GES or Gamaliel Cemetery.
