It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Odis C. Proffitt Jr. (Gamaliel, Kentucky), who passed away on December 12, 2025, at the age of 93, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Odis Proffitt, Sr. and Roxie Proffitt (England); and his siblings, Moanie Proffitt, Alma Dickerson (John), Belvia Pare (Garnett), Marna Goad (Arlie), Willadean Higgason (Buddy), Elster Proffitt (Inez) and George Proffitt (Agnes).
He is survived by: his son Tim; his daughter-in-law Dorothy Proffitt of Gamaliel; his daughters, Treva (Ed Brockman) and Renea (Martin Brown); and his grandchildren, Brittney Baker, Spencer Proffitt, Reagan Proffitt, McKinley Brown, Wesley Anderson and Brittany Netherton. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 14th 2025 from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM and on Monday, December 15th 2025 from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. A funeral service will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at 12:00 PM at the Bartley & Sons Gamaliel Chapel (315 E Main St, Gamaliel, KY 42140). A burial will be held on Monday, December 15th 2025 at the Gamaliel Cemetery (825 Gamaliel Rd, Gamaliel, KY 42140).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Gamaliel Cemetery or The Monroe County Backpack Program in memory of Mr. Proffitt.
