She was predeceased by : her husband James Gary Lawson, Sr.; her parents, Hubert Clayton Smithers and Agnes Lilly Keefe (Kelly); and her brothers, Richard and Jack Smithers.

She is survived by : her children, Kathy Simpson (Anthony) and James Gary Lawson, Jr. (Janie); her siblings, Ralph Smithers, Marion McCartt (J. B.), Rose Fallis and Cecelia Ashcraft; her grandchildren, Jacob Lawson, Andrew Drury, Jeremy Drury, Evan Lawson, Hope Lawson and Haley Drury; and her great grandchildren, Izabella Lawson, Carson Lawson, Harper Lawson, Silas Caudill, Greyson Caudill and Theo Drury.

Visitation was held on Sunday, April 21st 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Johnson's Funeral Home (641 S Broadway St, Georgetown, KY 40324). A funeral service was held on Tuesday, April 23rd 2024 at 12:30 PM at the Camp Nelson National Cemetery (6980 Danville Rd, Nicholasville, KY 40356).
