He was predeceased by: his mother Ida Bell Mercer; his brother Jim Bartley; and his daughters, Alicia, Rose and Bonnie.
He is survived by: his wife Opal Mercer; his sons, Timothy Mercer (Carol) and Robert Mercer (Rebecca); his niece Marie Townsend; and his grandchildren, Robbie Mercer (Tosha), Travis Mercer, Cody Mercer, Reba Mercer, Jazzy Mercer, Gavin Mercer, Julie Elmore (Clint), Kaci Hubbard (Seth) and Rachel Lindsey (Josh).
