She was predeceased by: her parents, Willie Clayton Houchens and Willie Neal Woodcock Houchens; her husband James Follis Staples; and her siblings, Margaret Stotler and Jerry Houchens.

She is survived by: her children, Vicki Lowe (David) of Glasgow and Steven F. Staples (Becky) of Glasgow; her grandchildren, Taylor Staples (Dillon Gordon) and Tyler Clark (Calley); and her pet Tad. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
