He was predeceased by: his parents, Welby Fields and Bessie Gibson Fields; his wife Linnie Mae Saltsman Fields; his grandchild Adrianne Lile; and his siblings, Marvin Fields and Mary Rigdon.

He is survived by: his children, Billy Wayne Fields (Sue) of Georgia, Gary Fields (Sheila) of Hiseville, Sandy Saltsman (Tim) and Lana Lile (Jeff) of Glasgow; his grandchildren, Heather Key (Eric), Penny Johnson (Shawn), Addison Fields (Brittany), Angie Rush (Rex), Ashleigh Bennett (Anthony), Alicia Woosley (David), Nick Fields (Lori) and Selena Forbis; and his sister Maylene Sneed. He is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.

Due to health concerns caused by the Covid-19 situation, funeral services will be private.
