He is survived by: his wife Barbara Karen Lewis Matthews; his sons, Timmy Matthews (Rita) and Tommy Matthews (Kaye) of Thailand; his stepson William Elmore (Tabitha); his grandchildren, Natalie Simpson, Chad Matthews (BB), Shani Matthews Stawki (Calvin), Gavin Matthews, Daxton Matthews, Chayli Matthews, Ziggy Matthews and Tasia Matthews; his niece Marla Bryant; his brother Douglas Earl Matthews (Becky); his great grandchildren, Briar Bragg, Brinlee Bragg, Brady Jo Bragg, Allie Vincent (John Luke), Braxton Simpson, Adleigh Bridgeman, Cody Dubree, Katie Elmore, Will Elmore, Abby Britt (Nigel), Cash Elmore, Lilly Elmore, Lola Britt and Flora Britt; and his great great grandchild Tripp Vincent. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
