He was predeceased by: his parents, Jewell Botts Powell and Dorene Powell (Kingrey); his wife Deborah Powell (Brooks); and his brother Jerry David Powell. He is survived by: his sons, Chris Powell (Jennifer) and Gary Powell (Liz); his granddaughter Emma Grace Powell; his sister Barbara Harper; his stepchildren, Kelly Logsdon, Kristi Logsdon, Michael Lowe and Andrew Lowe; his nieces, Lori Knight (Eddie) and Cheri Kosbiel (Thomas); and his nephew Tony Bragg (Tiffany).
