He was predeceased by: his parents, Gilbert Smith and Lona Hardy Smith; his wife Lula Smith; his siblings, Edna Jordan, Lillie Mae Smith, Dorothy Vaughn, Bessie Harris, Barbara Thompkins, Anderson, Bob, Bill, Chester, Walter Berchel and Brack Smith; his parents-in-law, Boone and Mary Smith; and his siblings-in-law, Prudie, America, Lola, Dorothy Smith, Marie Jordan, Edna Branstutter, Laura, Margaret, Floretta, Elva Smith, Golden Jordan, Caleb Smith, Bill Vaughn, Hiram Harris, Marcum Spurlock, Jabe, Daniel, Curt, Will, J. L. Smith, Tom Jordan, Willie Branstutter and Clarence Ray Townsley.

He is survived by: his sons, Randal Smith (Shirley) of Augusta and Alvin Smith; his partner Gray; his sisters, Stella Spurlock, Nancy Marie Smith and Patricia Supernaugh (Tom); and his siblings-in-law, Louellen "Dot" Townsley, Marietta Smith, Walter Smith (Catherine) and David Thompkins. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; special caregivers.
