He was predeceased by: his parents, Herbert Sergent and Grace Gladys Houck Sergent; his children, Brian "Sarge" Sergent and Claudia Sergent Gollihue; his siblings, Dorothy "Dot" Sergent Waggoner, Wilma "Jiggs" Mae Sergent Holbrook and Vernon Stewart; and his brothers-in-law, Bob Waggoner and Delmas "Deb" Holbrook.
He is survived by: his wife Henrietta Flaugher Sergent; his children, Keith Sergent (Jenny) of Grayson and Veronica Sergent Braun of Grayson; his grandchildren, Ashley Gross (Josh), Brooke Fox (Lemarr), Kassi Sergent, Roni Gollihue, Bridan Braun and Brooklyn Braun; his great grandchildren, Caleb Fox of Jayla Sergent, L. J, Conner, Cianna Fox, Ashlyn Sergent, Jace Gross, Scarlet Fox, Coen Gross, Rhet Gross and Meila Fox; and his brother Donald Sergent (Diane).
John will be remembered not only for his contributions to his community and church but also for the immense love he shared with his family and friends.
