He was predeceased by: his parents, Homer Leslie Simpson and Lillie Florence Bloyd Simpson; his former wife Marilyn Bonta Simpson; his son Danny Walton Simpson; his grandson Shane Lee Lovins; his grandson-in-law Jason Propes; his siblings, Billy Simpson, Vera Tucker, Ogden Simpson, Gearon Simpson, Richard Simpson and Mildred Neagle; and his brother-in-law Winfred Bonta.
He is survived by: his wife Brenda Shirley Simpson of Greensburg; his grandchild Shawn Lynn Propes of Greensburg; his great grandchild Jazlynn Propes of Greensburg; his stepchildren, Angela, Scott Bettens of Campbellsville, Joe and Gaye Moon of North Carolina; his stepgrandchildren, Faith Bettens, Ashely Moon and Kristoffer Moon; his stepgreat-grandson Ethan Moon; his daughter-in-law Belinda Simpson of Greensburg; and his siblings-in-law, Michael of Greensburg, Marilyn Shirley of Greensburg, Wilburn of Greensburg, Connie Bonta of Greensburg and Suvada Arnett of Greensburg. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was held on Saturday, October 25th 2025 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and on Sunday, October 26th 2025 from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home (206 S Main St, Greensburg, KY 42743). A funeral service was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 at 1:00 PM at the same location. A burial was held on Sunday, October 26th 2025 at the Green County Memory Gardens (4775 Hodgenville Rd, Greensburg, KY 42743).
The family has requested that expressions of sympathy take the form of donations to the Gideon Bible Fund which can be made at the funeral home.
