He was predeceased by: his father Edward A. Mathews; and his grandson Alexander Scott Connelly. He is survived by: his wife Karen Hughes Mathews; his mother Mary Margaret "Bunny" Filius Tackett of Helendale, CA; and his children, George Mathews, II (Brittany) of Cincinnati, Adam Mathews of Harrodsburg, Becky Craig (Chris) of Harrodsburg and Jessica Connelly (Robert) of Stanford. He is also survived by three brothers, three, sisters, and ten grandchildren.
