He was predeceased by: his parents, Marshall Phillips and Ovie Peavler Gaines; and his siblings, Tommy Gaines, Donnie Peavler and Gracie Smith.
He is survived by: his siblings, Kenny Gaines of Louisville, Alice DuPont of Dayton, OH. and Sheree Thompson of Ashland; and his nephew Clint Smith of Danville. He is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
