Edward "Banjo" Kirkland born February 13, 1956 departed this life on Wednesday September 1, 2021 at the Hazard A.R.H. being 65-years old. Eddie was born in Middletown, New York to Geneva Brock and the late Willis Kirkland. Other than his father, Eddie was also preceded in death by his Step-Father, David Baker; Sister, Janice Kirkland; Grandparents, Herbert & Marie Phipps; Nephew, Jeremy Kirkland.
Eddie worked 48 years in Surface Mining, he loved operating Backhoes, Dozers, Excavators and Loaders. Eddie loved helping others, camping, fishing, spending time with his family, and spoiling his grandchildren. Edward "Banjo" Kirkland leaves the following relatives to cherish his memory: Wife, Jackie Kirkland of Lower Second Creek; Children, Crystal McCoy & Kevin of Bell County, Sumer Combs & Dewayne of Acup, Juanita Kirkland & Jason of Richmond, KY and Jordan Grigsby of Lower Second Creek; Mother, Geneva Brock & Reed of Bell County; Sisters, Cathy Hensley & David of Virginia and Kay Princinsky & John of Tennessee; Brothers, Weldon Kirkland & Teresa of Bell County and Scott Baker & Becky of Bell County; Grandchildren, Ryder Fields, Maddox Fields, Sutton Fields, Colter Bowling, Jared Saylor, Cameron Saylor, Ariel Saylor; Also a host of nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends survive.
Funeral Services for Edward "Banjo" Kirkland will be conducted on Sunday September 5, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home with Merill David Collins and Travis France officiating. The Interment will follow in the Combs Family Cemetery located at Pigeon Roost. The Visitation will be at the Engle-Bowling Funeral Home on Saturday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 P.M.
