She was predeceased by: her parents, David Russell and Mabel Hurt Russell; her husband Robert Karatz; her siblings, Claude Russell and Carol Smith; her brothers-in-law, Ralph, Ronald Estepp and Marvin Combs; and her niece Carolyn Sue Santiago.

She is survived by: her siblings, Thelma Russell of Ohio, Vivian Estepp of Moorefield, Richard Russell (Margaret), Blanche Caudill (Bobby), Linda Combs of Lotts Creek and Ruth Slone (Vernon). She is also survived by nieces, nephews, and other relatives & friends.

They actively participated in charity events and helped start a tennis school in Israel for youth at risk.
