We announce the death of Linda Shockey Castleman (Hazard, Kentucky), who passed away on September 23, 2026, at the age of 78. Linda will be remembered by family members, friends, and others whose lives were connected in meaningful ways. Linda will be remembered for the impact she had on the lives of those around her. Friends, family, and colleagues will cherish their memories and the time shared. Those who knew Linda will remember moments of kindness, warmth, and presence. Though words cannot fully capture her life, the legacy of connections and experiences remains. Linda’s absence will be deeply felt by those who valued her companionship.
She was predeceased by: her parents, Pauline Smith and Manuel Shockey; and her husband Dallas Castleman. She is survived by: her children, Kandace Noplis Hunt (Kelly Hunt) and Charles Noplis; her grandchildren, Joshua Hunt, Courtney Hunt Brown (Sam Brown), Chloe Hunt and Dominic Noplis; her sister Debbie Whitaker; and her close friend Brenda Kilburn.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM at the Maggard's Mountain Chapel (352 Roy Campbell Dr, Hazard, KY 41701). A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 24th 2026 at 1:00 PM at the same location.
