He was predeceased by: his parents, Carol Shelton and Sonny Shelton. He is survived by: his wife Jo Laine Shelton; his son Derek Shelton (Sara) of Henderson, Kentucky; his grandchildren, Sheridan Baird of Morganfield, Alyssa Shelton of Henderson and Sonny Shelton of Henderson, Kentucky; and his pets, Mindy and Sophie.
