He is survived by: his children, Leslie Cates-Schauer of Ft. Wayne, IN, James Cates (Janet) of Greenwood, IN and Michael Cates (Jody) of Crown Point, IN; his brother David H. Cates (Patricia) of Spokane, WA; and his grandchildren, Stephanie Cates, Alexandrea Schauer and Cassandra.
