He was predeceased by: his parents, Lilburn Townsend and Ilyene Townsend Carter; his stepfather Lloyd Carter; his sister Joyce Townsend Wilson; his brother-in-law Bob Wilson; his stepsister Darlene Carter Fuller; and his close friend Wanda Hill.
He is survived by: his sons, Darrel Townsend and Jeff Townsend; the mother of his children Faye Knight; his grandsons, Colton Townsend, Dylan Townsend and Cameron Townsend; his great grandchild Emery Townsend; his stepbrother Rick Carter; and his nephews, Rob Wilson and Scott Wilson.
