He was predeceased by: his parents, Ben Kurtz and Mary Bellwood Kurtz. He is survived by: his wife Barbara; his sons, Scott Kurtz (Diana) of Florida, Jim Kurtz (Andrea) of Florida and Rick Kurtz (Neil Mason) of Indiana; his sisters, May Oliver of Henderson and Theresa Wilson (Gerald) of Reed, Kentucky; and his siblings-in-law, Margaret Buckman (Paul) of Henderson, Kentucky and Bill Marks (Cindy) of Robards, Kentucky. He is also survived by five grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
