He was predeceased by: his parents, Edward Douglas and Laura Ellen Gambrel Chavies; his wife Edith Baker; his son Franklin Darrell Chavies; and his brothers, Alford, Tye, Elmer and Jack Chavies.
He is survived by: his children, Terry (Dale Cleaveland), Joanna Turner of Morhead, David (Michelle Chavies) and Dennis (Carrol Chavies); and his grandchildren, Daniel Arnold Jr., Donald Arnold, Erin Bentley, Kristina Kegley, Jamie Marion, Jason Chavies, Nathan Chavies, Vanessa Cooper, Katie Walker, Valarie Chavies, Timothy Chavies and Alecia Chavies. He is also survived by several great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
