It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Gerald Matera of Horse Cave, Kentucky, who passed away on July 18, 2025, at the age of 84, leaving to mourn family and friends. You can send your sympathy in the guestbook provided and share it with the family.
He was predeceased by: his parents, Anibale Matera and Lucy Matera; his siblings, Anne Ciaramella, Katherine Bresmon, Joseph Matera and Carmine Matera; his father-in-law Boots Chaney; and his brother-in-law Tom Chaney.
He is survived by: his wife Elizabeth Ann Chaney; his daughters, Corinth Matera (Mary) of Minneapolis and Elizabeth Matera of Morehead; and his sister Nancy Varian of Yonkers. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
In addition to the church, donations may be made in his name to the American Cave Conservation Association or the Hart County Historical Society.
